Athletic Field Renovations and Construction
The question of when to do an athletic field renovation depends on your individual requirements for the field. Some fields, like M & T Bank Stadium get resodded almost yearly, while other recreation fields may never be renovated. When renovating a field, timing is critical. Whether it is a Bermudagrass conversion from cool season grass or grading and seeding, K & C can help you.

Bermudagrass Conversions
This type of renovation to an athletic field has been very popular in the last 10 years. Converting a cool season turf field to a Bermudagrass field creates a much better playing surface for budget conscious facilities. Conversions can be sodded or sprigged.
Fraze Mowing
Use of a rotary spindle with blades for the purpose of removing the top layer of organic matter accumulation (thatch). Some surface soil may also be removed based on depth of fraze mowing. Traditionally this process was used primarily in preparation for sod or reseeding, but in recent years, fraze mowing has been used to eliminate some weeds, stimulate turfgrass growth and improve infiltration and soil oxygen levels. Another benefit, especially for sports turf or golf courses, is the smoothing of minor playing surface undulations.
